Waco Texas! 75th National Square Dance Convention! The Alamo! Galveston! The Gulf!!

I didn’t actually plan to get into the water, but the water chose me. After my shoes were wet, I waded into the surf up to my knees. The water was warm and it felt deliciously silky. My new tennis shoes, on the other hand, are still stained from the sand. Worth it. Totally worth it.

Morning sunshine sparking on the waters of the Gulf. I am not totally sure of the details of the name change or the politics of the matter, so it will just be called the Gulf here. My space bar causing me problems while typing on here is a far more immediate and pressing concern for **MY LIFE** than any silliness coming from politics anyway!

We saw the lifeguard towers but did not see any lifeguards. The water seemed to be too busy for actual swimming, but the waves did not look like my idea of surfing waves.

The birds were not afraid of humans at all. Or maybe I am just not scary looking.

I would not object to going back to Galveston again when we had more time to hang out there!

Texas doesn’t normally require passports, but it was a fun contest at the 75th National Square Dance Convention in Waco, Texas.

The Alamo was surrounded by big city now – in my brain, I expected it to still be the remote outpost sitting out in the wide-open plains…
